So the weather sure is changing here, getting cold and crisp, leaves are falling and those dark mornings/evenings are creeping in. Autumn may be a signal of cooler times to come, but it’s just a little bit magical don’t you think?
So, you can stick around and get leaf-picking, take intense Autumnal pictures and forage for conkers, or you may fancy a little escape from it all. A little retreat from the cold for a while – and why not eh?!
I personally have been loving Autumn this year, from an early October heatwave to the sight of the spectacular leaf fall and it’s lingering promise of Halloween (my favourite day of the year), but I’ve also opted to get away from it all for a bit. Head away to a sunnier climate, pamper myself and enjoy some much needed R n’R. Hello November, I’m going to Cyprus!
I truly believe going on holiday pre-Christmas and post Christmas is the KEY to overcoming SAD and feeling good in the winter season. I don’t think it matters where you go, whether you opt for skiing down the slopes or a tan top-up – I promise you a break during this time, will get you through those freezing nights/post Christmas blues.
Nothing gets you feeling good and excitable, like knowing you’re going to be getting away from it all soon. From rummaging through your summer wardrobe again to finding out bottles of suncream while you’re still wearing your woolly gloves, ;), you will feel better going away this time, than you will going away in the summer. If you think about it, most of your friends will already have had their holidays this year, but you held out so you could escape the cold (good thinkin’ Batman!!) – they will be wanting to smuggle themselves into your suitcase for sure! 🙂
Admittedly, waiting it out until winter is that little bit easier, if you actually get a summer (in England this sometimes doesn’t quite happen), coz if you do at least you will have got some summer sun rays. But even if the weather is a little bleak on those summer days, the best thing to do, is to try stretching your annual leave by taking more mini-breaks or short villa holidays rather than longer hols. You’ll feel like you’ve done so much more and it will break up those working weeks perfectly.
It’s important to do things in life which make you feel great – for the majority of us, getting away from it all, is usually pretty high on that list. We all deserve to chill out, have some thinking time, quality time out with the loved ones and lots of indulgence. 😀
Even if work is really busy and you have loads going on, it’s important to take some time out for yourself. You deserve that! It can’t all be work and no play – you are entitled to fabulously, sparkly, good time. And so what if no-one else can go with you, why not just have a few days away to yourself, hit a spa, hit a country cottage and catch up with your reading, hit the beach with your iPod…whatever you feel like – sometimes the best thing in the world is just to have some time to yourself. Relish in it.
The holiday hotel lowdown: We shopped around and checked out all reviews on Trip Advisor and found that The Kefalos Beach Tourist Village had the highest ratings….I really recommend checking all hotels out on a review site just to get an idea. You don’t have to take all reviews to heart (as not everyone can be pleased remember) but use it to get ideas. If there are a mixture of good and bad reviews I don’t necessarily see that as a bad thing. A Gohemian review of this particular hotel is to follow after the trip in November., so you’ll know what I thought of it. 🙂
Are you guys going away anytime soon? Where you going?
Love & sunglasses Em xoxo
